Abra Receives P22 Million Livelihood Assistance From Duterte Administration
In a bid to give a capital to those who want to earn a
living, the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Cordillera
Administrative Region (CAR) has released P22 million to Abra communities.
Dole-CAR Labor Employment Officer II Maria Koniko De Leon
said 15 organizations received assistance under the livelihood project and
Tulong Pangkabuhayan for Disadvantage/Displaced persons (Tupad) project,
Tuesday, April 25.
Under the project, recipients have different activities that
aim to help them earn a living.
The Tupad Project is an emergency employment program where
residents will be working for a minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 30 days.
“In Tupad, one example is the repair and rehabilitation of a
slope protection and farm to market road in San Juan, there are eight barangays
and there are 510 people who will be working for ten days. The beneficiaries
will be receiving around P4.6 million as their wage in working together in
their community. Their attendance through their daily time record will show how
much would be paid to them,” De Leon said.
Those who will be working are required to have simple
bookkeeping where they will be logging their financial statements.
Through this, the Dole can monitor if project working or
not.
“The Dole field office in Abra will be also helping us to
monitor the different organizations how sustainable their work and we aim them
to do their best in working. We hope the residents will be trying their best to
make money with the small amount the government has given to them for their
development” De Leon said.
Dole has also given assistance to Ifugao organizations last
month under the Tupad program.
