DSWD Continuously Reaches Out To Street Families, Children With Or Without ASEAN
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
continuously reaches out to street families and street children, whether or not
there is an ASEAN Summit, an official has said.
“As of now, they (street families) are being monitored by
the local government units of Manila,” Mishella Cruz, Information Officer of
DSWD-National Capital Region (NCR), said in an interview with the Philippine
News Agency (PNA) Wednesday, April 26.
Cruz noted that Manila’s LGUs are regularly conducting
reach-out operations that target street families in the NCR.
“Anyone may report sightings to the LGUs of Manila so they
can reach out to them,” she said, adding that Manila serves as the first
responder while the DSWD will provide assistance or temporary shelter after the
reach-out activity.
