Japanese Businessmen Donates New Clothes, Shoes, Appliances For Marawi
A group of Japanese businessmen on Tuesday, July 11,
personally went to the office of Presidential Communication Operations Office (PCOO)
Secretary Martin Andanar to hand over their donations for the evacuees in
Marawi City.
The Japanese group headed by Takanori Numazaki, chief
executive officer (CEO) of transporting company K.K. Korin Logistics, trooped
to MalacaƱang for the symbolic turnover of their donations which consisted of
brand-new clothes, shoes, appliances and containers for the evacuees as well as
for the soldiers and their families.
PCOO Undersecretary Marvin Gatpayat received the donations
on behalf of Secretary Andanar.
“We want to help the evacuees and the soldiers as well as
their family in their daily needs. We would be very glad to present our
donations for the evacuees and soldiers to President Rodrigo Duterte,” said Numazaki.
He said that around 20-40 container vans of the said goods
will arrive in a week’s time.
The group added that they are also mulling accepting used
clothing and shoes from other Japanese groups as part of additional donations
to be given.
He likewise assured that all donations would reach their
intended beneficiaries.
“Nais ko pong pasalamatan ang Japanese donors na namigay ng
brand new na mga damit para sa ating mga kababayan sa Marawi. Talagang maasahan
ang bansang Japan. Sisiguraduhin namin na makakarating ito sa mga
nangangailangan,” Secretary Andanar said in a statement.
He said that this will provide the state-owned television
network in providing quality programs.
“I thank JICA for this invaluable Japanese TV content worth
PHP17 million. Indeed, modernizing our state television goes beyond upgrade in
equipment. It includes showing quality TV content,” Secretary Andanar said.
