President Duterte To Build Hospital In The Middle East That Would Cater To OFWs
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who flew in from his Middle East
state visits early Monday, April 17, revealed his plan to build a hospital in
the region that would cater to overseas Filipino workers.
The plan would depend on permission being given by the
Middle East countries.
President Duterte, who gave up on reading a prepared
statement and instead chose to speak extemporaneously, also revealed around 150
repatriated OFWs arrived with him.
Each of these OFWs was given P10,000 in assistance.
Additionally, hinting at his earlier offer to deploy
Philippine troops to assist Middle Eastern countries, President Duterte said, “More
than just anything else, I stressed the point that, should the need arise, we
will be there to help them.”
“Kasi protocol, and there are some issues I cannot talk
[about] in public, but only to the military,” President Duterte explained.
“In case of, you know... it’s a very troubled world there. I
hope it would not rumble on to the states that do not want trouble,” he added.
During his trip, President Duterte visited and met the
leaders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the State
of Qatar.
