How PNP Chief General Bato Will Punish Cops If Something Bad Happens During ASEAN Meet?
If something untoward happens at the ASEAN Summit this week,
thousands of the country’s policemen will have bald heads.
Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald “Bato”
dela Rosa threatened to shave thousands of policemen’s head during the send-off
ceremony for the peace and order task force for the ASEAN meeting in Metro
Manila this week.
“Kaya tingnan n’yo ang ulo ko, you look at my head. Kalbo ‘di
ba? What is the numerical representation of kalbo? Zero. Kaya dapat tayo dito
zero incident sa ASEAN Summit mula simula hanggang matapos,” Chief dela Rosa
said during the send-off ceremony at Rizal Park in Manila.
During the event, Interior Acting Secretary Catalino Cuy
said at least 40,000 security personnel will be deployed for the ASEAN Summit.
Only 9,000 policemen and military personnel attended the
send-off ceremony.
Cuy said the remaining number will be deployed within the
week.
He also reiterated to the security personnel their main goal
of “zero incident” during the event.
Of the 40,000-strong security team, 18,000 are policemen
from the National Capital Region Police Office and police regional offices in
Ilocos region, Central Luzon and Mimaropa.
The uniformed personnel will be augmented by “force
multipliers” including personnel from local government units.
“Usapan natin, ‘pag may mangyari dito sa ASEAN Summit, after
the summit lahat kayo magpapakalbo. Papakalbo ko kayong lahat ‘pag may mangyari
kaya kailangan tutok tayo sa ating trabaho,” the PNP Chief said.
Ambassador Marciano Paynor Jr., Director-General for
Operations of the ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Council, said at least 2,000
delegates are expected to arrive for the summit.
Paynor added that nine ASEAN leaders have also confirmed
attendance to the summit.
On a more serious note, Chief dela Rosa referred to the
ongoing NBA playoffs stint of the Boston Celtics where it is trailing the
Chicago Bulls after topping the Eastern Conference elimination round.
“Yung preparasyon natin napakahaba, yung ating planning and
everything napakahaba. Pagdating sa bandang dulo, sa D-day na, kung saan
kinakailangan na tutok lahat doon tayo bumigay, doon tayo nasingitan, bale wala
yung ating buong performance sa buong season dahil nag-flop tayo sa bandang
dulo sa playoffs,” he said.
Moreover, Chief dela Rosa urged the security team to do
their best in showing their professionalism and discipline to ensure a safe and
secure ASEAN Summit.
“Ibuhos na natin ito ngayon sa remaining days dahil dito
naga-gauge yung success ng ating preparations, 'pag walang mangyari na masama
sa ating ASEAN Summit,” Chief dela Rosa added.
