P1.04 Billion Allotted By DSWD In Preparation For Tropical Storm Marce


P1.04 billion funds has been allotted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in preparation for the upcoming tropical storm Marce once it enters the PAR.

From the budget, a total of P1,040,619,223.86 standby funds and stockpile is ready to be used for the disaster relief assistance and preparedness for the tropical storm Marce with an international name of "Meari".

P266,082,742.95 as standby funds have been distributed to DSWD central office and field offices throughout the country.

P579,642,375.51 fund is intended for food and non-food items. The DSWD also prepared 540,545 family food packs with a value of P194,894,105.40.


In terms of human resources, the department prepared 562 Quick Response Team (QRT) members around the country.

DSWD also established a Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center at their central office.

There are around 1,544 QRT staff members, including Social Welfare and Development Teams and Provincial/Municipal Action Teams, are on standby throughout the country.


Typhoon Meari or Marce has top sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 55 kph.
