Duterte Orders PNP Chief To Probe Killings Of Black People In US

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said that he ordered Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa to probe the killings of black people in the United States.

While in a camp visit in General Santos City Friday, Duterte told the police that he directed Dela Rosa to send a team to the US and investigate the series of killings of African-American people there.

“I told Bato, ‘Prepare a general who will be sent to America [as] rapporteur.’ Let him investigate and we are interested to the shooting of black people in America,” Duterte said.

Duterte took a swipe at the US after President Barack Obama will reportedly lecture him over the extrajudicial killings in the country due to the administration’s aggressive campaign on illegal drugs.

Duterte said: "I said, America [keeps on insisting to bring up] human rights. Now, Charlotte [has declared] state of emergency. Meaning, before you condemn, [make sure you have untainted reputation]. You know, men judge best when they condemn.”

Carolina Governor Pat McCrory had declared a state of emergency in Charlotte Wednesday following the shooting of a black man by a police.

Due to the incident, violence escalated quickly as residents continue to protest the fatal shooting of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Scott was shot at the car park early this week after the police were searching for another wanted person.

Police said the victim was armed with a gun, but his family insisted otherwise.

A pistol was recovered from the crime scene.

The victim’s family are asking the law enforcement officials to release the bodycam or dashcam footage of the encounter.

The police, however, have not released any bodycam or dashcam video, claiming that it is inconclusive.
