1-Year-Old Baby Girl In Oriental Mindoro Tests Positive For COVID-19

A one-year-old child tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Oriental Mindoro — the province’s first case of infection, Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor said Friday, March 27.

Governor Dolor said the baby girl, who is from Barangay Ilaya in Calapan City, was in Alabang in Muntinlupa City from March 5 to 12.

Swabs taken from the child were among the eight samples sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

Her test results came back positive while the other swabs, which were taken from other patients under investigation in the province, tested negative.

Governor Dolor said he requested for a confirmatory test on the child’s specimen, which the Department of Health (DOH) accepted.

Her guardians have also been tested for the disease, while a contact tracing is being conducted by the provincial and city health offices.
