PRRD: Next Philippine President Might Come From Bicol But It’s Not Leni

President Rodrigo Duterte has once again burned Vice President Leni Robredo by saying that the Philippines’ next president might come from the Bicol region during his visit to Legazpi City, Albay Thursday, December 5.

Manila Bulletin reported that the President mentioned former Senator and now Sorsogon Governor Francis Escudero or Albay Representative Joey Salceda as potential presidential contenders in the next polls.

“The next president will come from Bicol. You have a choice of Salceda and Chiz Escudero,” the President said at the situation briefing on the onslaught of typhoon “Tisoy” in Bicol region held at the Legazpi City Convention Center.

Both Escudero and Salceda were among the officials present at the post-typhoon damage assessment meeting where the President expressed his satisfaction with the government response to the calamity.

Earlier, President Duterte discouraged VP Robredo, who also hails from Bicol, from running for president due to her alleged incompetence.

He warned the country will face a disaster if VP Robredo becomes the Philippines’ leader.

“Huwag kang tumakbo sa pagka-pangulo, wala kang alam. Wala kang... ayokong sabihin pero dalawang beses kang kumuha ng bar,” President Duterte said.

President Duterte has made it clear that he has no plans to run for a second term or endorse a candidate in the 2020 presidential elections.

“Now, Filipinos listen to me, I am no longer running for any post, if you vote for her disgrasya kayo,” the President added.

The President has told his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio not to run for president because it is a thankless job.

He said a president will only endure long working hours, insults, and criticisms, adding that he is not grooming anyone to become his successor.
