President Duterte Warns Cabinet Members: Once I Doubt You, You’re Fired

President Rodrigo Duterte will not hesitate to fire Cabinet Secretaries whose integrity will come under the slightest shadow of doubt.

Facing reporters upon his arrival from Vietnam Sunday, November 12, President Duterte reminded Cabinet officials that they have only a month to process documents that reach their office.

He said he is bent on fulfilling his campaign promise of fighting corruption.

“You know, give me a reason to doubt about your integrity and honesty and I will fire you,” he said in a speech at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Two Cabinet officials have gotten the boot over allegations of corruption.

They are former National Irrigation Administration administrator Peter Tiu Laviña and former Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno.
