Supporters Of President Duterte In Europe To Launch DU30 Wines For A Cause

For Europe-based Filipino entrepreneurs, Maria Elizabeth ‘Olga’ Briton Famorcan and Chona Abiertas Tenorio, the unwavering support they gave President Rodrigo Duterte during the 2016 presidential elections campaign has no end.

They believe that more have to be done to make sure that the 16 million votes that gave President Duterte an overwhelming victory would make a difference in improving the lives of more than 100 million Filipinos.

“Because of this, we decided to come up with an idea of ‘Duterte or DU30 Wines’ in his honor, in which part of the benefits will be donated to the livelihood or rehabilitation programs of the President,” Famorcan said in an overseas phone interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

Early this year, Famorcan, Duterte’s country campaign manager for Italy in the May 2016 elections, and Tenorio, a lawyer, had formed a partnership to come up with the DU30 wines for a cause.

Famorcan said they are planning to launch the DU30 wines and Cava Special Edition on August 26 in Barcelona, Spain.

“Everybody is excited over this project. We have invited President Duterte to grace the launch but his schedule is so tight. So, hopefully, other top government officials could come and represent the President,” she said.

She added they expect more than 200 guests and Duterte supporters from different European countries to attend the DU30 Wines launch.

Produced and perfected with a guarantee of origin from D.O. Penedes, Spain, the planned DU30 Wines would come from the best quality Cava and Red Wines, which can be bought at affordable prices.

“A bottle of good wine, like a good act, shines ever in the retrospect. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. This conviction inspired us to do something different to support PRRD and his livelihood program,” said Famorcan.

“So here comes the DU30 Wines and Cava, the most healthful and most hygienic of beverages made from a delicate and highly valued grape variety.”

Famorcan said a separate launch of the DU30 Wines in Manila later this year is being considered to give President Duterte a chance to personally introduce the DU30 wines to the Philippine market.

This early, Famorcan said the Cat Wines and Cava, one of the top and biggest winery in Spain, is expecting that more or less 10,000 bottles of DU30 Wines will be ordered in Europe alone before August 26.

“This concept was formed out of our love for country and the President because he is being bombarded by so many criticisms despite his efforts to make the Philippines a better nation again,” Famorcan said.

She said 0.20 euros or Php12 for every bottle sold will be allotted to any livelihood or rehabilitation program of President Duterte.

“We know that many of our kababayan (countrymen) are still without job. I hope in our own little way, we can make a difference in helping our country with this kind of project,” said Famorcan, a native of Barangay Calima in Pola, Oriental Mindoro.
