President Duterte Released P2.58 Billion Rice Subsidy For 4.3 Million Poor Families This March
The government of President Rodrigo Duterte has released
P2.58 billion for this month’s rice subsidy of some 4.3 million
household-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps.
Each family is expected to receive P600 per month, on top of
the health and education cash grants they are already receiving through the
4Ps, according to Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary
Judy Taguiwalo.
The total amount disbursed this month for the rice subsidy
allocation is P2,581,114,800.
Currently, 4,385,344 families nationwide are 4Ps
beneficiaries.
During his first State-of-the-Nation Address, President Duterte
directed the DSWD to provide rice subsidy to the Pantawid Pamilya
beneficiaries.
DSWD formulated a guideline for the provision of the rice subsidy
that took effect last January.
“Only households that are active and compliant with the
program conditionalities are entitled to receive the additional R600,” Sec. Taguiwalo
said.
Following the guidelines, she added that the DSWD has
already incorporated the rice subsidy within the regular pay-out schedule of
the Pantawid Pamilya.
“This means the beneficiaries can expect to regularly
receive the rice subsidy along with their health and education grants starting
this month,” she added.
