He also met with Democratic Senator Bill Nelson.
In a tweet, Senator Rubio said he discussed “protecting human
rights” amid the Philippines’ “narcotics’ crisis” with Senator Trillanes.
According to Politiko’s source, Senator Trillanes is making personal visits to the offices of US senators to convince them to condemn extrajudicial killings (EJKs).
In particular, the senator is targeting Republican lawmakers
and asking them to help convince President Trump not to push through with his
visit to the Philippines next month.
This, he said, will be President Trump’s way of condemning
the EJKs that have supposedly happened under Philippines President Rodrigo
Duterte.
President Trump will be in the Philippines in November for
the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leaders’ Summit.
