Robin Padilla Donates P5 Million For The Victims Of Marawi Siege
Actor Robin Padilla has donated P5 million to the Department
of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the victims of the Marawi siege.
President Rodrigo Duterte personally thanked Padilla during
the turnover ceremony held at the Malacanang Palace on Wednesday, August 16.
Padilla in his social media account expressed his gratitude
to the national government for its rehabilitation efforts in battle-scarred
Marawi City.
“Sa ngalan ng Panginoong ALLAH ang pinakamapagpala at ang
pinakamahabagin. Ang araw na ito ay pinagpala ng kanyang habag at awa sapagkat
ang panalangin ng mga muslim filipinos hindi lamang ng mga kapatid na Moro
kasama na rin ang ating mga Kababayan na patuloy na nagdarasal para sa mabuting
kahihinatnan ng MARAWI ay may malinaw na kasagotan na po ALLAH HU AKBAR!!!”
Padilla said.
Present at the turn over rites were Fisheries Development Authority general manager Glen Pangapalan, Frabelle Foods Corporation president Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., and the actor’s brother Rommel Padilla.
Other guests include Social Welfare Undersecretary Emmanuel
Leyco, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, Social
Welfare Assistant Secretary Rodolfo Santos, and Armed Forces of the Philippines
chief-of-staff General Eduardo Año.
In November 2016, Padilla paid a courtesy call on President Duterte,
prompting the Chief Executive to grant him an absolute pardon to allow him to
have “full restoration of his civil and political rights.”
Padilla was convicted for illegal possession of firearms in
1994 but was granted a conditional pardon by former President Fidel Ramos so he
could go out of prison.
