Pork Barrel-Hungry Solons Block Judy Taguiwalo’s Appointment As DSWD Chief

Former Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casiño has thrown his support behind Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo, who will face her third and last confirmation hearing at the Senate on Wednesday, August 16.

Casiño, however, expressed concern that some lawmakers might try to block the appointment of Taguiwalo after allegedly failing to secure pork barrel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) budget.

“Reposting this because from the grapevine, I heard that some House members are intent on rejecting Sec. Judy’s confirmation tomorrow because she refuses to allow congressmen to treat DSWD funds as their personal pork barrel. #StandWithJudy,” Casiño wrote on Facebook.
