General Bato Slams Callamard: Mind Your Own Business, Let Cops Probe Kian’s Death

“Mind your own business.”

This was the comment of Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Monday, August 28, on the statement of United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extra-Judicial Executions Agnes Callamard that the death of Kian Loyd delos Santos was murder.

Dela Rosa said Callamard should let the investigators finish their probe on the death of the 17-year-old student.

“Hintayin niya siguro ‘yung imbestigasyon. Hintayin natin kung ano ang sabihin ng CIDG [Criminal Investigation and Detection Group],” he said over the phone.

On the UN representative’s statement that the death of Delos Santos should be the last, Dela Rosa said it will be if the drug suspects will stop their illegal activities.

“Last na ‘yun kung hihinto na sila sa kaka-involve sa droga, kung wala nang drogang problema sa Pilipinas, last na ‘yun,” he said.

Delos Santos was killed on the night of August 16.

Police claimed he was a newly-identified drug suspect.

Aside from the CIDG, the PNP Internal Affairs Service is conducting investigation on the incident to determine the administrative liability of the police involved.

At present, under restrictive custody are Police Officer 4 Arnel Oares; Police Officer 1 Jeremias Pereda; and Police Officer 1 Jerwin Cruz.

Chief Inspector Amor Cerilo, the precinct commander, has also been relieved of his post.

Caloocan City police chief Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna, on the other hand, has been placed under administrative relief to “preclude the possibility of his influence over the investigation of the incident.”

Northern Police District director Chief Superintendent Roberto Fajardo has also been removed from his post because of the incident.
