Philippines Donates $300,000 Humanitarian Aid To Rakhine State In Myanmar


The Republic of the Philippines has donated $300,000 for humanitarian assistance in communities in Rakhine State, Myanmar.

President Rodrigo Duterte presented the humanitarian support when he met Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi 4 pm on March 20 at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pit Kaw.

“This thoughtful gesture of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines reflects the ASEAN solidarity and family spirit as well as traditional bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two countries,” State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said in her letter of appreciation.

President Duterte invited Myanmar State Counsellor to visit the Philippines.

The State Counsellor of Myanmar is the de facto head of government and dominant state figure.

Aung San Suu Kyi is the inaugural holder of the post.
