Duterte Government Delighted With Country’s Record-High Happiness Among Filipinos
Malacañan is delighted with the results of the latest survey
showing record-high happiness among Filipinos.
“SWS survey on happiness level is at 91 percent. It’s a
group of happy Filipinos,” Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said in a
recent Palace news conference.
“Around this time, the economy of the Philippines is on the
upswing at 6.6 percent during the last quarter,” he said.
“People likewise feel safer and more secure with more than
eight out of 10 Filipinos attributing this to the President’s anti-drug war,”
he added.
Malacañan earlier pledged to “surge ahead” its campaign
against illegal drugs and crimes after welcoming a survey showing majority of
Metro Manila residents feels safe due to such government’s peace and order
drive.
“The Administration’s drug war is well-received by the
people on the ground in sharp contrast to the gloom and hopelessness depicted
by the President’s critics,” he said.
The Presidential Spokesman said the government hopes to
continue to get the cooperation of the community, and even support of the
clergy, especially in the implementation of a rehabilitation program for drug
surrenders.
Abella stated that nine out of 10 Filipinos considered themselves
happy with their life based on the SWS survey conducted last December.
“The latest happiness rating in the country is the highest
score in 20 years,” he said.
The December survey showed 46 percent of Filipinos
considered themselves “very happy” with life while 45 percent were “fairly
happy.”
Seven percent of the 1,500 respondents were “not very happy”
while the remaining two percent were “not happy at all.”
