DPWH To Complete Widening Of Barkadahan Bridge In July 2017 As Mandated By Pres. Duterte
Consistent with the mandate of President Rodrigo Duterte to
fastrack the project in the country, Department of Public Work Secretary Mark
Villar announced the opening of two additional lanes along the Barkadahan Bridge
this July.
“When completed the widening of Barkadahan Bridge along C-6
will ease traffic congestion at EDSA and C-5. It will also provide safe and
convenient route to the travelling public in the eastern corridor,” Sec. Villar
said.
Last February, DPWH opened a section of the Laguna Lake
Highway which traverses through Napindan to M. L. Quezon section in Taguig
City.
“The Barkadahan Bridge will complement the Laguna Lake
Highway project, a 10.7 km road network expected to reduce travel time from
Taytay to Bicutan by about 50%,” Sec. Villar said.
Two (2) lanes of the highway traversing Napindan to M. L.
Quezon section in Taguig City were opened last month.
“Travelers between Rizal and Makati/Taguig would benefit the
most from improvements of the road capacity as well as travel speeds along the
Laguna Lake corridor,” Sec. Villar noted.
“We aim to develop C-6 as a strategic alternate route for
motorists in Metro Manila. The opening of Barkadahan Bridge is part of an
ambitious road network aimed at traffic decongestion,” he added.
