President Duterte Admits He Ordered PNP Chief Dela Rosa To Reinstate CIDG 8 Marcos
President Rodrigo Duterte admitted he was the one who
ordered PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa to reinstate CIDG Region 8 head,
police Superintendent Marvin Marcos.
The President cleared Special Presidential Assistant Bong Go
of allegations that he was the one who asked Dela Rosa to reinstate Marcos.
In an interview with CNN Philippines, President Duterte
explained why he decided to reinstate CIDG 8 Head Marvin Marcos.
“Ganito yan, si Bong inoderan ko, call. By the time pinasa niya,
ang sumagot si Dela Rosa. Sabi ko, do not remove the guy because kasali yan
sa…” Duterte said.
The President wants to know if the cops that implicated by
Kerwin Espinosa were real drug protectors.
“I am doing an investigative job. Natapos na yun, si Dolina
was cleared. Marcos, positive. Kasi I was keeping track of his movements.
Alisin mo ako doon, mawala bigla ang… Mawala lahat. Hindi ko masundan,” he
added.
Now, after the President tracked the movements of Marvin
Marcos, President Duterte said that he must face charges.
“He has to face the charges. Ngayon, pwede nang… Let him
maintain the right to be heard.” he said.
Furthermore, President Duterte also said during his speech at
the graduation of the PNP-Highway Patrol Group riders in Davao City that after
the investigative job, he discovered that Chief Supt. Asher Dolina who
implicated by Kerwin Espinosa was clean while Marcos was not.
“I’d like to make it public. Kaya sabi ko as it is kayo
diyan. Doon ko nalaman na si Dolina malinis. Si Marcos, may tama. Kaya huwag
mong galawin kasi gusto kong tignan,” President Duterte said during his speech.
In addition, the President also said that the reason why he
wanted the CIDG 8 Chief to stay in his position because he waited slowly to build
up the case against Marvin Marcos.
“Kung biglain mo, eh napuputol ang nagbi-build up ng kaso.
Alam na natin na before Espinosa na wala siya sa unang listahan,” he added.
In an earlier statement to the media, Dela Rosa said someone
“higher up” ordered him to reinstate Marcos. He also referred to this “higher
up” as a “kumpare.”
Following Dela Rosa’s statement, Senator Leila De Lima came
out with her own statement, saying “a source” told her Special Presidential
Assistant Bong Go was the one who asked for Marcos’ reinstatement.
Both Go and Dela Rosa denied De Lima’s statement.
