President Duterte Will Open Malacañang Palace To Kids
President Rodrigo Duterte wants kindergarten and Grade 1
students to be the first to see Malacañang Palace, the country’s seat of power,
as he reiterated his desire to make the people feel it was built for them.
Since he was elected into office, President Duterte has been
saying Malacañang would open its doors to the poor, especially the children,
and even the communists.
According to the President, he was expecting Executive
Secretary Salvador Medialdea Jr. to come up with a program that would enable
children to see the Palace for themselves.
Furthermore, President Duterte said the program would
include those in higher grades later on while on certain days, others could
also visit the Palace.
In addition, the President stressed the Filipino people were
entitled to see and visit Malacañang, particularly the museum. He also stated
that he would prefer to call it the “People’s Palace.”
The Presidential Museum and Library is the primary office
within the Office of the President responsible for preserving, managing and
promoting the history and heritage of the Philippine presidency, and
particularly of Malacañang Palace as its official seat.
