Hi-Tech Weapons and Equipments Were Given To Philippine Army In Fighting The Abu Sayyaf


As part of the modernization program of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, AFP, delivered new military trucks KIA KM450 and field ambulances KM451. The recipient was the 10th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army that is based at Camp Manuel Yan Sr in Compostela Valley.


Around 80 units of trucks and ambulances were already at the camp since August 31 and the remaining balance were delivered last September 2, stated by Capt. Rhyan Bathcer, representative of the 10th Infantry Division.


KM450 is a light off-road military truck which can carry around 12 to 13 troops and is made by South Korean vehicle firm KIA Motors. The KM450 is also used by the South Korean Army. This unit is a n adaptation of M715 truck of the US Army.


P1.937 billion budget was allocated for the upgrading of weapons and equipments of the AFP to strengthen the Philippine Army, Navy and Air Force. The next acquisition of new equipments of AFP will be high-tech helicopters.



By this modernization program, the AFP can operate well and protect the country and its citizen against terrorism.
